  • Innate Running will allow you to develop an awareness of what it takes to be your ideal runner. Each day of running presents an opportunity to better understand your self, your body, and how you’re experiencing the process. Learn how to trust your own perception of effort, move beyond the rigidity of pace numbers and heart rate zones, and tap into your innate ability to run!

  • Being a part of the Innate Running community means getting in touch with like-minded individuals, sharing your story, and feeling more connected to the sport of running.

    Guidance on race day strategy, from pacing to nutrition

Strength training

  • 1hr in-person session, covering exercises specifically designed to make you a more efficient, less injury prone, runner.

    A programme of exercises and video content to take away.

    Learn how each exercise relates to running gait and/or injury prevention.

bespoke Programme Design

    • An initial 60 min consult call to discuss running history and direction

    • A three month programme developed in Final Surge, related to your needs and goals.

team program design

  • Contracts to be designed per team, dependent on goals and needs.

    Examples include:

    • Partnering with a work team in preparation for a race

    • Partnering with a school team in preparation for the track or cross country season

    • Presenting to groups on elements of running performance and program design

Ryan Woolley - Innate Running Founder & Coach

Wellington, New Zealand

Ryan’s running career has included success across a large variety of distances and terrains throughout the last 20 years. Early days saw him reach provincial and national success in New Zealand track, road, and cross-country events. A move to the United States in his mid-twenties coincided with him pivoting toward the marathon - running a course record in Newport, Rhode Island, and a top 80 finish at Boston in 2019. Today, his passion lies with ultra trail and mountain events - competing in a number of notable US trail races, including Speed Goat 50k, Chuckanut 50k, and Gorge Waterfalls 100k.

Ryan developed a deep understanding of exercise physiology, exercise prescription, and movement mechanics during his time at Massey University while completing a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. Throughout his time as a running coach, he has helped athletes of various ages, experience levels, and disciplines to love the process and become their ideal runner. He specialises in programme design, strength training, gait analysis, and race-day nutrition.

The core of Ryan’s running experience is connected with his ability to explore beautiful, challenging terrain on-foot. He is also a husband, guitar player, vinyl collector, and amateur shelf maker.
